Le tappe del delitto di Garlasco: dalla condanna di alle indagini su Andrea Sempio

Il delitto di Garlasco: launched with a new lead on Andrea Sempio, a 19-year-old friend of Chiara's brother, who was initially investigated in 2007, but had his case file closed out. The case revolves around the brutal murder of 26-year-old Chiara Poggi, who was found dead in her family's villa in Garlasco on August 13, 2007. Chiara, a graduate in economics, was at home with her parents and younger brother, Marco, who was away on vacation at the time.

Investigations initially led to Chiara's boyfriend, 24-year-old , who was arrested and later convicted of the crime. However, the case was reopened in 2025 after DNA evidence pointed to a new suspect, Andrea Sempio.

The story begins on August 13, 2007, when a 9:50 am, a 118 emergency call alerted the Carabinieri to a possible murder in Via Giovanni Pascoli, Garlasco. Alberto Stasi, Chiara's boyfriend, reported that he had found his girlfriend's body. However, further investigation revealed that Chiara's body had been found with multiple stab wounds, and that a metal object had been used to inflict them. The medical examiner's report showed that the wounds were inflicted with a level of brutality that was “without precedent.”

The investigation led to Alberto Stasi, who was arrested and later convicted in 2013. However, the case was not without controversy. In 2015, the Court of Cassation annulled the conviction, citing lack of evidence, and ordered a new investigation. The new investigation led to the reopening of the case against Stasi, who was eventually convicted of murder in 2019.

However, the case did not rest there. In 2020, a new DNA analysis revealed that the DNA found on Chiara's underwear was compatible with that of Andrea Sempio, 19-year-old friend of Chiara's brother. Sempio was initially investigated in 2007, but his case was closed out due to lack of evidence.

The new DNA evidence led to a re-opening of the case against Sempio, who was subsequently placed under house arrest and subject to phone and email surveillance. In 2022, a new DNA analysis was conducted, which found that one of the nine DNA samples taken from Chiara's fingernails was compatible with Sempio's DNA. The results of the new DNA analysis led to a re-opening of the case against Sempio, and he was placed under formal investigation.

As the investigation continues, it is imperative to reconstruct the events leading up to Chiara's murder. The story is complex, with multiple suspects, and a lack of concrete evidence. The delitto di Garlasco is a tragic tale of a senseless murder that has shaken the community, and its resolution is far from certain.
