The statement released by Rai's Press Office read as follows: “During the episode of ‘Striscia la Notizia' on Tuesday, February 27th, it was reported that John Travolta had already participated in rehearsals for the Sanremo Festival in the afternoon, wearing the clothes and accessories for the evening performance. The news spread by the satirical news program is false and will be pursued by Rai according to the law.” This statement leaves little room for interpretation. However, for those who are not updated on the events, let's take a step back. The John Travolta case at Sanremo 2024: shoes and controversy. John Travolta was a guest at the 2024 Sanremo Festival. The actor had proposed a free participation in the show because he would be staying just a few kilometers away from Liguria during the festival. Surprised by the proposal, Rai accepted and offered him a reimbursement for expenses. During the day, the American actor was informed about the content of his appearance, which included the well-known Qua Qua Dance, strongly desired by Fiorello. The festival night aired, Travolta made his appearance, performed the dance, and left the Ligurian Riviera. Why did Travolta agree to participate for very little money at Sanremo? Through some investigations, it was discovered that Travolta had an agreement with the producers of a new shoe brand to wear their shoes during his appearance at Sanremo, essentially engaging in hidden advertising, since Rai claims to have had no knowledge of this and remains shocked by the incident. Rai explained that Travolta quickly changed before going on stage, and no one had time to check for any brand logos or distinctive marks on his attire. However, contrary to Rai's statement, Pinuccio on Striscia La Notizia claims that John Travolta had already rehearsed the dance wearing the incriminated shoe brand, implying that Rai is more or less complicit in this hidden advertising. Rai has rejected the accusations and is now preparing to confront this fake news through legal means.
