Santanché veste i panni della vittima: “Un ergastolo mediatico, sofferenza”. E cita gli affetti
“Santanché toga on the victim: ‘This is a mediatic imprisonment, a sufferance'. And it cites the affections, my choice of using words that have always been used by President Gianassi, who is attached to the chair, but I would like Gianassi to apologize. Excuse me, you often cite the Constitution as the most beautiful in the world, but I agree, but then are you coherent, are you respectful of the principles that are sanctioned in it? Are you willing to trample it, the Constitution, just because you think it's a nice opportunity to put the government in a tight spot? See, colleagues, I don't have to remind you of our Constitution, because Article 27 establishes the fundamental principle of the presumption of innocence, stating that the accused is not considered guilty until the final judgment. This principle was reaffirmed in 2021 with the Legislative Decree 188, which not only obliges, but also impounds authority to avoid statements that can prejudice the perception of innocence of the investigated or accused. My reference to the Constitution in this intervention is not casual, but I would like to focus on the fundamental charter of the Republic, which was the fruit of an incessant and extraordinary equilibrium of weights and counterweights that the founders of the Republic were able to balance with skill and wisdom.
Of course, to hide your justice now, what do you talk about? The recent history of this nation has not taught us nothing. Ministers, presidents of regions, mayors, and councilors who have resigned for the sake of this so-called opportunity, which, however, clearly contradicts the constitutional guarantee.
So I would like to give a few examples, because memory is not given to all humans. I would like to recall some ministers, such as Lupo, Mastella, De Girolamo, who were forced to resign, and later acquitted for not having committed the fact. Presidents of regions, such as Antonio Bassolino and Vasco Errani, both acquitted with full formula, and others, like Simone Uggetti, ex-mayor of Lodi, arrested, tried, and acquitted after 5 years. Of course, apologies never arrived for Mario Mantovani, my friend, now an MEP, arrested, tried, and acquitted for not having committed the fact. Ex-President of the Council Matteo Renzi and, just last cases, Armando Siri, whose inquiry was closed in January, after 6 years. But in this long list of investigations, including even the most fanciful, a special place is occupied by the former PD senator Stefano Esposito, who was accused of 7 years, abandoned, and then acquitted. I don't want to be part of this group, but I will not escape, and I will also defend myself in the process, with dignity, in the respect of roles.
As I said, in the process, demonstrating the difficulties, especially for that period which many have forgotten, that of the Covid. I'd say one thing: it takes a great strength to not go mad. It takes great strength to continue this battle, but I have to say that my strength comes from my family, my family, my brothers, my son, my partner, because it is precisely the suffering we are living day by day that turns into a bursting strength that could overcome any mountain, because, yes, I want to continue to fight for justice, to make and win, based on what we all should want, a state of law. I have highlighted some examples to make you understand how the mediatic pressure and the anticipation of judgments can influence not only political dynamics but also the life of the people involved, often contrary to the principle of presumption of innocence, always sanctioned in our Italian Constitution, and I believe that Parliament should not become a court of justice in the hands of some powerful Corte or judge, thanks God, few that belong to party-politicized currents. I also believe that the mediatic storm, the pages and TV transmissions built to devastate, destroy the life of people, and also the social media, which, after all, is an aggravated form of the mediatic prison, an ergastolo mediatico, that will remain with us forever, we are living in the era of social media, and it is an ergastolo mediatico that will never end.”
