Vittorio Feltri, noto per la sua franchezza e la sua ability to express his opinions publicly, has once again taken the stage to share his thoughts on the latest political developments. During the 17th September episode of the “Carta Bianca” program, conducted by Bianca Berlinguer on Rete 4, Feltri made a scathing critique of the new environmental policies and, in particular, of the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
Feltri attacked the “Green approach” that, in his opinion, is causing severe damage to the traditional automobile industry. According to him, since the focus on EV production began, the industry has started to decline significantly. He cited the crisis that has hit Germany, one of the emblematic countries of the automotive sector, and which has also affected Italy.
What's more, Feltri drew attention to the recent decision of some major players in the automotive industry, such as Volvo, which is reconsidering its electric vehicle production plans due to a decline in demand. This, according to him, could lead to a cascade effect, with other car manufacturers following suit by reducing their investments in the electric sector.
Feltri emphasized that, in his view, insisting on this transition towards a green-oriented economy is leading us off track. He also hinted at the Italian government's recent decision to redirect funds allocated for the construction of a gigafactory for electric vehicle batteries in Termoli, worth approximately €226 million, to other projects. This move, Feltri argued, casts doubts on the Italian government's commitment to the development of the electric vehicle industry.
The total investment in this factory was expected to be over €2 billion and was scheduled to be completed by 2026. However, with this new decision, the project appears to be in limbo. Feltri brought up this point, asking whether the demand for EVs is as high as previously thought, and, if not, what would be the consequences for the entire industry.
Feltri's criticism is not only directed at the product itself but also at the risks he believes it poses for the economy. He is warning of the potential loss of jobs, the closure of factories, and the significant damage to the economy of entire countries, including Italy.
In conclusion, Feltri's message was clear: we are going down the wrong path by neglecting the economic reality and pursuing a transition towards an electric-oriented economy.
